Come and Get it!
A little place for a little breakfast for a local crowd… with no sign and an impenetrable locked door. (read on to find out why)
Fred’s is a members only breakfast club offering breakfast 7 days a week from 6:00 am to 11:00 am. The atmosphere is simple, the friends abundant and the coffee is free, but you have to get it yourself. Breakfast made to order and baked goods are made in house almost every 24 hours.
The only people Fred’s lets in are our members who have a “really cool secret key” to our locked door for $20.00, what a deal. Breakfast made to order, fresh homemade baked goods, a wood stove and a river view. Oh, and some rules…
With only 31 seats at a counter overlooking the river, it can get pretty busy on weekend mornings. You’ll be in good company sharing a cup of coffee and a chat with your fellow members and we’ll get you seated as fast as possible, or if you can pry those sleepy weekend eyes open a ‘leetle’ earlier, you can avoid the wait before 8:00, at least this week.
New members? Why membership you ask?
Only 31 counter seats in a tourist town? How to make sure everyone stays happy?
Chris and Ellen Bollenbacher opened Fred’s doors late July 2008 with our group of Charter Members (or first key holders) whom “applied” prior to and upon our opening July 2008. You will see many of the creative “applications” on this site and hanging on our walls at the restaurant.
The membership has grown over the past few years and although our Charter membership closed, we do maintain a wait list for membership. People come and go, move, visit seasonally and so, and we have a wait list book which allows you to sign up when sponsored by a member, or if you don’t know a member we welcome you to stop by during our hours during the week and sign the wait list book. Be sure to read the “RULES” first as everyone needs to follow them. Good parenting 101. You’ll see when you read them. The wait list varies in time from 4 weeks to 4+ months so be patient and hang on to your friends. We make calls when the time is right and are happy to fulfill your desire to join us for breakfast.
